Photocomfort discusses expansive platonic love in “Roll” (Video)

Boston-based musician, creator and singer-songwriter Photo comfort has just released her latest single and music video. The track “Roll” is the acclaimed artist’s first music release in over five years and marks an impressive musical moment.

With “Roll,” Photocomfort discusses an important story that often goes unspoken. The song is about platonic love and the development of friendships. It tells the story of the importance of truly loving someone and giving them space and flexibility, even if it means giving up on the connection between the two of you. Lyrics that reflect this theme include: “Run away from me now / Run away and close your eyes / There will be time to talk / But it won’t be tonight.” Musically, “Roll” lures with sparkling vintage synths, seductive beats, and twangy guitar riffs. Photocomfort’s stunning vocal tone and charismatic delivery are a trademark of this unique sonic offering. In the accompanying music video, the artist creates a three-minute thriller that begins with her holding a knife, but soon finds herself running around her apartment with a pair of scissors, cutting the hair of another person who looks exactly like her. The viewer does not know what happens at the end, as one of the two falls to the ground. The video focuses on the theme of transformation, which reflects the message of the song.

Photocomfort is the music project of Justine Bowe, known for her expansive and cinematic experimental pop music. Since her debut single in 2015, Photocomfort has built a loyal and dedicated fanbase. “Roll” is taken from her highly anticipated upcoming album Patron Saint Scheduled for release later this summer, listen to the new music now and remember: if you love something, set it free.
