Voice actress Marge Simpson dies in Latin America

Nancy MacKenzie, who played the character Marge Simpson in the Latin American dubbing of The simpsonsdied at the age of 81.

The Peruvian-Mexican actress became known through dubbing countless leading roles in English-language films for the Spanish-speaking market.

The news was confirmed by actors Patricia Acevedo and Claudia Motta, who portray Lisa and Bart Simpson in the Latin American dub. “It is with deep sadness that the Simpson children (Lisa and Bart) announce the passing of our beloved mother Marge Simpson (Nancy MacKenzie),” they wrote. “Rest in peace, we will never forget you.”

MacKenzie lent her voice to the Simpsons matriarch in the first 15 seasons of the hit animated series, which first aired from 1989 to 2004.

Among others, Humberto VĂ©lez paid tribute to MacKenzie and lent his voice to Marge’s husband Homer in the dubbed version.

“We spent many hours together, working and traveling. A lifetime. Your passing pains me greatly, but I celebrate your love of life, freedom and living life to the fullest,” he wrote on X.

MacKenzie was born and raised in Peru and later, in her twenties, moved to Mexico to pursue a career as an actress.

She has appeared in numerous popular television series and soap operas in Mexico and established herself as one of the leading voice actresses in the region, taking on roles such as Trinity in The Matrixand has also provided voice acting for stars such as Sigourney Weaver, Diane Keaton and Judi Dench.

She found her niche in the animation world and took on roles like Cruella De Vil in 101 DalmatiansDaphne in Scooby-Doo and Sailor Galaxy in Sailor Moon.

The Latin American version of The Simpsons first aired on Canal 5 in Mexico on Christmas Day 1990, and was later shown on Fox throughout Central and South America. MacKenzie remained in the role until season 15, when she was replaced by Marina Huerta, who had previously voiced Bart.
