Alexandria Nordic Ski Club welcomes Olympians to summer training camp – Alexandria Echo Press

ALEXANDRIA – Twenty skiers from Alexandria and Fergus Falls participated in a ski camp June 20-23 hosted by the Alexandria Nordic Ski Club and featuring renowned guest coaches from the Twin Cities, including Olympic skiers Caitlin and Brian Gregg of Minneapolis.

Caitlin was an Olympian in 2010 and Brian Gregg in 2014. Both have won numerous national championships and competed in multiple World Cups. Caitlin won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships in Falun, Sweden. The Greggs trained the skiers for three days, including strength training, classic and skating technique, race tactics and the importance of rest and recovery. The skiers left the camp with a strong sense of the effort required to compete at the highest level – and all while having a lot of fun.

The President of the Alexandria Nordic Ski Club said: “One of the goals of our club is to give skiers the best tools to compete at any level they choose. This weekend we were able to provide world-class coaching to our junior skiers. The athletes worked hard and went home tired, but the feedback from the skiers was great.”

Additional goals of the ANSC are to provide and improve Nordic skiing opportunities in the Alexandria area for skiers of all abilities. For more information about the club, visit: https://www.alexnordicclub.org

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
