Plan to end the war should be ready this year

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said the plan to end the war will be ready this year.

He said this on Friday at a joint press conference with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

“Of course, Ukraine will decide. But if everything depended only on Ukraine, there would be no war. Unfortunately, both the occupying Russia and Putin wanted war. And so far he does not want to end it. The diplomatic path chosen by Ukraine is our initiative, because we are a victim in this war,” said Zelensky.

He recalled that the Peace Summit had recently taken place and that three detailed plans on energy, food security and exchanges were currently being worked on.

“And I am sure that we will solve these problems. At least we will work out a detailed plan. It will be ready in the near future. We will also work out all the other points of the peace formula and prepare a comprehensive plan that will be on the table for our partners. It is very important for us to present a plan to end the war that will be supported by the majority of the world. This is the diplomatic path we are working on. Moreover, as I said, not everything depends on us,” Zelensky said.

He said Ukraine is increasing production of drones, electronic warfare and artillery “because we need to be strong on the battlefield.”

“And this is not because anyone wants to fight. We didn’t want to from the very beginning. And now nobody wants to. We just want peace. But we have to be strong, and that’s why we are developing our production so that it is strong. Because Russia understands nothing but strength and respects no one except the strong. That is, these are two parallel things – being strong on the battlefield and developing a plan, a clear plan, a detailed plan. And it will be ready this year,” Zelensky said.

The first peace summit took place on June 15-16 in the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock. The summit discussed three points of Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace formula – nuclear safety, food security and the humanitarian dimension – the exchange of prisoners and the return of abducted Ukrainian children. After the summit, a joint communiqué was signed, which is open for participation.

The results of the summit will be handed over to Russia.
