Tyler Childers heats up “Twisters: The Album” with new “Song While You’re Away”

Tyler Childers never misses, and it looks like the Twisters The soundtrack won’t either.

Childers’ latest release entitled “Song While You’re Away” is part of Twisters: The Albuma compilation of country songs that will be featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming film TwistersA sequel to the 1996 film TwistersThe second installment is scheduled to hit theaters on July 19, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen Twisters and I don’t particularly care for the sequel, but the soundtrack alone is more than enough to get me to listen to it. Six more songs from the tracklist have already been released, and with the artists that will be featured on this thing, it only gets better from here.

But it’s hard to top anything Tyler Childers puts out into the world, and “Song While You’re Away” is no exception. Listen to it here:

“You were young and hungry
God knows, I was hungry too
We were both starving
For something worth losing

Looking over the hill at the lights of your hometown
I wrote this song for you
When I think about how we met, a girl coming home from school
And a boy who is just passing through

If the new tune sounds familiar, there’s a good chance you’ve heard it before. It wasn’t on Childers’ Live on Red Barn Radio I and II “Song While You’re Way,” recorded in two parts in 2013 and 2014, was played during his set with Red Barn Radio in 2016, and the YouTube video has been viewed millions of times.

In addition to Childers, the film’s soundtrack also features Flatland Cavalry, Wyatt Flores, Charley Crockett, The Red Clay Strays and many, many more.
