The family of an 89-year-old “wonderful mother and grandmother” have expressed their condolences following her death in a three-vehicle accident.

Jean Kitchen succumbed to her injuries following the collision on the A5104 at Bryn Eglwys, near Corwen, Denbighshire.

Three vehicles were affected – a grey Peugeot 107, a silver Peugeot 206 and a black Jaguar X-Type.

Her family said she was “larger than life” and “one in a million.”

On June 23, emergency services, including a rescue helicopter, were called to the crash.

Mrs Kitchen, who was from the Bryn Eglwys area, died of her injuries the following day.

Her family said she would leave a “huge void that can never be filled.”

“It is difficult to summarize the life and stories of Jean Kitchen in a short paragraph, as one could so easily write a book about it.

“In her 40s she began a career as a nurse, midwife and health worker. It was something she absolutely loved and throughout her life she had a great passion for helping others,” her family said.

However, they said “the greatest achievement of her life was marrying the love of her life, Jim Kitchen,” who died in 2015.

“Their long life together was full of adventures all over the world – they loved to travel and left their mark wherever they went.”

North Wales Police are still investigating the accident and are appealing for information.
