AleXa talks herself out of love in the new video for “Distraction”

Korean-American K-pop singer AleXa has released a new single titled “Distraction.”

In the new video for “Distraction,” AleXa struggles with her feelings for a past flame and convinces herself to get over him. He’s not the best, he’s a mistake / Stop crying over someone / Who ignores your lyrics? / ‘Cause it’s not love, it’s just a new distraction,“ she sings in the chorus.

“I wanted to write a song that would speak to anyone who has ever felt undervalued in a relationship,” Alexa said in a press release about the new song. “‘Distraction’ is about knowing your worth and not letting yourself be second choice to anyone. It’s a reminder that love is a two-way street and that you deserve someone who respects and appreciates you.”

The new single is the latest in a series of English releases from the singer this year, following “i’m okay” and “sick”. “We wanted a sound, an image and an overall aesthetic that was kind of a 180-degree turn from what we’ve done so far with K-pop artist AleXa,” she said of the latter in an interview with NME.

In other K-pop news, Chuu, the former lead singer of LOONA, has officially won her lawsuit against her former agency Blockberry Creative, ending the singer’s two-and-a-half-year legal battle with the company. The news comes just days after she released her mini-album “Strawberry Rush” earlier this week.

Additionally, BLACKPINK’s Lisa made her first solo comeback in three years today with new single “Rockstar.” It’s her first music since leaving her longtime agency YG Entertainment late last year.
