The cast of “The Thursday Murder Club” expands to include David Tennant, Naomi Ackie and more

If you’re currently working as a film actor, there are two crime ensembles you probably want to be in. On the one hand, you have Rian Johnson, who is assembling an all-star cast for his next film. Knife out Movie, Wake up, dead manAnd then there is the adaptation of Richard Osman’s successful novel The Thursday Murder Clubfrom writer-director Chris Columbus with the might of Amblin behind it – and with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie as the central quartet. Now the cast has been expanded to include several new additions, as the film is expected to begin shooting before the end of June.

The cast now also includes Doctor Who Legend David Tennant, The Rise of Skywalkeris Naomi Ackie and Villain OneDaniel Mays, Jonathan Pryce and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. The five new additions have been confirmed by Netflix, but the roles they will play have not yet been announced. We already know that the four members of the titular club will see Mirren in the role of Elizabeth, Brosnan in the role of Ron, Kingsley in the role of Ibrahim and Imrie in the role of Joyce – a group of pensioners who set out to solve a crime at their retirement home Cooper’s Chase.

All in all, that’s quite a cast for an adaptation of a book that was a huge hit in the UK and elsewhere – now with the added power of an all-star cast, Spielberg producing through Amblin and a worldwide distribution deal through Netflix. Anyone fancy a cup of tea?
