Tournament action in District 8 continues today | News, Sports, Jobs

Inter-Mountain photo by Joey Kittle. The Elkins 8-10 year old all-stars will face Braxton County in a District 8 tournament playoff game today at 6 p.m. at Riverbend Park.

ELKINS – Play continues today in the District 8 Little League tournaments for ages 10-12 and 8-10 at Riverbend Park.

In today’s 10-12 year old game, Elkins will face Clay County at 5:30 p.m. and Belington will face Craigsville in elimination games at 7:45 p.m.

The winners will compete against each other on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Tygart Valley, on the other hand, will face Summersville in the title game on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The loser of this competition will face the winner of Saturday’s match in the match for second place.

In the 8-10 year old division, Elkins will face Braxton County in an elimination game today at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Tygart Valley and Summersville will face off in the championship game at 4:30 p.m., with the loser moving on to face the winner between Elkins and Braxton County in a second-place matchup at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Both the champion and runner-up of each tournament qualify for the state tournament.

The state tournament for 10- to 12-year-olds begins July 12 at the Ona Little League Complex (Ona Milton Little League) and 8- to 10-year-olds will play at the Sophia Little League facility beginning July 5.
