The Philadelphia Cricket Club is looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Head Squash Professional.

Club and squash program overview

The Philadelphia Cricket Club is one of the finest private, family-oriented, full-service country clubs in America. As the oldest country club in the country, the PCC has a rich sporting tradition and provides outstanding recreational and social experiences for its members, their families and friends by maintaining exceptional standards in its facilities, programs, services and professional staff. The club is located on two campuses within a short distance of each other: Flourtown, with two 18-hole golf courses and restaurants; and St. Martin’s, with cricket, paddle, golf, squash, tennis, padel, swimming and restaurants.

The club has one of the best squash programs in the country with a modern squash facility with eight international singles courts, two doubles courts, squash offices, pro shop, fitness center and bar/dining area. Squash programs are designed and run by our professional staff under the guidance of a Squash Committee and the Board of Directors. Programs are tailored to the social and competitive needs of our members and include a range of in-house programs for men, women, singles, doubles, adults and juniors.

Notably, many of the club’s young players learn squash in introductory courses and then go on to compete in local, regional and national tournaments, as well as at prestigious schools and colleges. Over 160 juniors participate in the squash program, and over 50 of them compete in US squash events.

Year-round offerings include private lessons, group courses, internal/external leagues, tournament training, summer camps and member events for beginners, intermediates and professionals. Currently the squash and padel coaching team consists of seven members and the head professional is responsible for leading much of the curriculum as well as developing the coaches’ skills.

The ideal professional candidate is a hard-working team player with a proven track record as a squash player and coach at the highest level. Candidates will have excellent communication and hospitality skills and be willing to go the extra mile to provide exceptional service to club members. The remuneration includes:

Competitive hourly rate for courses and lessons

Medical, dental, disability and other benefits; 401k retirement plan options; vacation/paid holidays

Estimated earnings: $140,000 to $160,000

The main tasks of the head squash professional include:

  • Report to the club’s squash director;
  • Coordinate member events and internal/external leagues;
  • Support and share the Club’s vision of providing high quality squash singles and doubles programs for members of all ages and abilities, from beginners to nationally ranked men, women, boys and girls;
  • Work cooperatively with your colleagues to maintain a pleasant, positive and supportive work environment.
  • Effectively engage adult players and inspire new members to become active;
  • Demonstrate and teach sportsmanship and teamwork to create strong core values ​​and a sense of community among members and colleagues;
  • Be available up to six days per week during the squash season (September-April) and up to five days per week during the summer (May-August);
  • Give daily private and group lessons at an hourly rate set by the Squash Director.
  • Providing tournament preparation for members of the US Squash tournament format;
  • Participate in additional external US Squash Junior tournaments as needed;
  • Represent the club in local programs and competitive leagues as needed.
  • Imparting and maintaining a sound knowledge of the rules of the game;
  • Help manage the club’s online court reservation and booking system to track player engagement.
