Clemson fans react to Brady Hart’s commitment to Michigan

The Clemson Tigers lost a key addition on Tuesday when 2026 quarterback Brady Hart announced his commitment to Michigan.

Hart, a four-star recruit by 247 Sports, is the No. 92 player in the class and the No. 7 quarterback. He was once considered a surefire candidate for Clemson, but the Cocoa, Florida, native chose the defending champions.

The plan is always to acquire a top quarterback recruit, and with Dabo Swinney unable to recruit outside of the portal, he must focus on high school recruits.

Clemson has an offer for Tait Reynolds, another 2026 quarterback. However, Tait is a three-star player and the No. 349 player in the class.

Tiger fans and college football fans reacted angrily after Hart announced his decision. Some college football fans decided to troll Clemson while Clemson fans vented their frustration.

Blake Wagner wrote that Hart fumbled at Clemson, which makes sense given the expectation that he would be a Tiger.

Others pointed to the fact that Clemson has not been able to sign a good quarterback since Trevor Lawrence.

And while Cade Klubnik didn’t quite live up to expectations, he was one of the best high school players in the country in the class of 2022. Klubnik was widely regarded as one of the top two quarterbacks in the country and one of the top 15 young players overall.

Next year, Klubnik is hopeful that he will be the man everyone expects him to be. In his first year as a full-time starter, he threw for 2,844 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He completed 290 of his 454 passes, which is 63.3%.

Other Clemson fans expressed their frustration with the situation, while one Georgia fan decided to attack Swinney directly.

Swinney has a history of recruiting high-level high school talent, and that has served him well during much of his time at Clemson, but things need to change on his end as well.

Most other schools could let a 2026 commitment pass without much concern, but Swinney’s approach to the portal doesn’t allow that.

It will be interesting to see if that ever changes, but it doesn’t look likely.

The 2025 recruiting class has signed a quarterback in Blake Hebert from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut. Other than Hebert, it doesn’t look like there will be much quarterback talent coming in the near future.
