Amos Lee releases deeply personal song about self-acceptance “Beautiful Day” » LOVING LIFE WITHOUT FEAR

Celebrated Singer-songwriter Amos Lee presents “Beautiful Day,” a deeply personal song about self-acceptance and fear from his highly anticipated new album. transmissionwill be released on Friday, August 9th, on his own album Hoagiemouth Records via Thirty Tigers.

“I have had serious anxiety problems all my life, panic attacks since childhood,” says Lee. “I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t depressed. This song is about accepting that within yourself and not fighting it – knowing that you have that bear inside you, that thing rattling around, and just saying, ‘It’s okay; I know you’ll never completely go away, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to eat me.’ So the whole melody is kind of self-acceptance, and the bridge is acceptance of other people – when they come to you with their pain, you don’t have to judge them. They are much more than just the pain they carry inside.

“When I wrote the song, I was like, ‘Look, man, you don’t have to judge yourself so harshly. The shit you’re feeling is just shit you’re feeling. Work through it and try to get out there and do something.’ Just because you’re in pain or scared doesn’t mean it’s going to incapacitate you. The last verse is very autobiographical. I live in this little shack-like house right on the side of a huge highway. Every day, all day long, these semi-trucks shake the whole house. When I moved in there, I cursed myself and wanted to get away, but now I find them kind of comforting.”
