Travis Kelce ‘understands priorities’ amid romance with Taylor Swift, claims former NFL star

A former NFL tight end has praised Travis Kelce for understanding what comes first in his star-studded career despite his growing fame and high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift.

Greg Olsen, who is set to be demoted to Fox Sports’ No. 2 starting lineup for the 2024 NFL season when Tom Brady moves to the network, was impressed with Kelce’s maturity when he co-hosted the fourth annual Tight End University program last week in Nashville, Tennessee, with the three-time Super Bowl champion and George Kittle – another tight end who plays for the San Francisco 49ers.

The Tight End University, founded by the trio in 2021, aims to improve the skills of football’s most promising young talents at that position in a three-day camp.

“All these other things off the field and around the game have continued to expand for them,” Olsen said PEOPLE by Kelce, 34, and Kittle, 30. “And I think a lot of guys have problems with that.”

He added: “I think they both understand their priorities and keep things in that order, and I think the key for both of these guys is that their success year after year is a testament to their approach.”

However, Olsen had a warning for both Pro Bowlers: He reminded them to never lose sight of their original life goal of becoming a professional, no matter what ups and downs life brings.

“They’re basically football players,” the sports reporter continued about Kelce and Kittle.

“All the extra stuff and all the intention that comes and goes, and I’m sure parts of it are great and have great benefits, and I’m sure parts of it are hard.

“Of course, I’m not in the same situation, but when it comes to work, no one is more committed in the classroom and on the field than George and Travis.”

Kelce recently made headlines with a surprise appearance on stage during Taylor Swift’s performance at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. He is also often featured in the media these days as he continues to add more brand sponsorships and fan-facing events alongside his romance with the pop star.

And as Kelce and Swift’s fan bases grow closer, Olsen says the Chiefs star is getting better at handling the hype surrounding him and Swift.

“Travis is obviously super generous with his time and everything, and I think that’s great,” he said. “There’s a whole new fan base. I mean, I have an 11-year-old daughter, so I’m experiencing that firsthand.”

“I think it’s great for everybody. I think it’s great for the game and the league and yeah, I think a lot of fans were excited to see the guys,” he said of Kelce and Kittle and their commitment to Tight End University.
