(NewsNation) – The Royal Bahamas Police Force has focused its search activities on the waters to continue the search for 41-year-old Chicago woman Taylor Casey.

Casey has not been seen since the evening of June 19, when she disappeared during a yoga retreat in the Bahamas.

Her disappearance was first noticed at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, where she was staying, after she failed to show up for classes the next morning.

How does the police investigate?

The luxurious retreat, eight kilometers from Nassau, is currently the scene of a police search.

Efforts to find Casey intensified on Thursday, with police dogs also joining the search and authorities hoping to track down the yoga enthusiast.

Due to the vastness and remoteness of the retreat, local police began using drone technology to search for possible signs on the western end of Paradise Island.

Divers also entered the water as the police want to advance the investigation on several fronts.

Where is Taylor Casey’s family?

Casey’s family – including her mother Collette Seymore – arrived in the Bahamas on Wednesday – six days after she was last seen.

Traysia Conard, Casey’s niece, appeared on “NewsNation Live” on Wednesday and remarked on what a “nice lady” her aunt is.

“She travels all the time,” Conard said. “This was something extraordinary.”

Conard said she last saw Casey’s phone beep in the water. She was the only family member who had Casey’s location through the Find My iPhone app. This has not yet been confirmed by police.

Earlier this week, Seymore said in a statement that she believed her daughter was in danger.

“We are deeply concerned for Taylor’s safety and well-being,” Seymore said. “We love Taylor and want her to come home.”

Why was Taylor Casey in the Bahamas?

The 41-year-old visited Paradise Island as part of her interest in yoga. Casey had made the trip to obtain additional certification.

Casey had traveled from her hometown of Chicago and sent family photos of herself on the beach before her disappearance.

Then suddenly she just disappeared.
