Yacht Club Renovation Progress; Spammy Jammy Weekend

Yacht Club Renovation Progress; Spammy Jammy Weekend

The project includes a new building above the port lobby and a “complete renovation” of the interior to create modernized social and dining areas.

Construction at the Marco Island Yacht Club is on schedule with the goal of completing this extensive renovation in time for the holiday season.

“We are really pleased with the progress and collaboration with our partners MKH Architecture and D Garret Construction,” said Dave Everitt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MIYC. “We have managed to overcome obstacles and surprises and stay on schedule so that members can enjoy a beautifully remodeled clubhouse before the end of the year.”

Highlights of the project include the clubhouse, which will feature fresh, modern decor, state-of-the-art kitchens and an additional bar upstairs.

A brand new members lounge will also be created, providing a comfortable and inviting space to socialise and relax.

General Manager Missy Duffy emphasized that the club will remain active even without a clubhouse.

“We continue to host activities at off-site locations and of course we have a variety of boating events on the water and social gatherings on the docks to ensure the club’s vibrant community remains active and engaged,” she said. “We are also busy planning and preparing for a spectacular opening of the new clubhouse towards the end of the year.”

Spammy Jammy is this weekend

Held every June at the Little Bar in Goodland, Spammy Jammy is an annual and legendary event all about Spam, pajamas, and weathering storms during hurricane season. It’s also an excuse to party, not that you need one – especially in Goodland.

Put on your pajamas and head to Goodland this Saturday to celebrate Little Bar’s 45th anniversary and bring your best Spam sculpture.

Music will be provided by Stumpy Joe + Farney and the Railford Starke Band. The event will take place on Saturday, June 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 205 Harbor Place N., Goodland.
