Trump’s obsession with the “beautiful” Taylor Swift was recorded

Donald Trump called Taylor Swift “beautiful” five times in a row in a recently recorded interview – even though the former president does not seem to be familiar with the international pop star’s music.

“I think she’s beautiful, very beautiful,” Trump told Variety’s Ramin Setoodeh during a recorded interview for the editor-in-chief’s “Apprentice in Wonderland,” which hits bookstores this week.

Setoodeh shared this recording with CNN on Wednesday.

“I think she’s very beautiful,” Trump continued on the recording.

Setoodeh told CNN that during his four-hour interview with Trump, the 78-year-old politician admitted that he did not know Swift’s songs, although he had “heard that she was very talented.”

Trump also speculated that the 34-year-old superstar is liberal and “probably doesn’t like Trump.”

But Trump seems to like Swift. A lot.

“I actually think she’s very beautiful,” Trump insisted. “Unusually beautiful.”

CNN reported earlier this month that Trump expressed disappointment at Swift’s failure to support him during a meeting with House Republicans.

Although the pop star doesn’t often speak publicly about politics, she supported the Democrats in the 2020 presidential election. Joe Biden shared a photo of Swift on Instagram holding a plate of cookies decorated with the Biden-Harris logo.

There have long been rumors that Swift’s 2019 song “You Need to Calm Down” is about Trump’s involvement with her.

“You’re someone I don’t know, but you shoot me like it’s Patrón,” she sings.

The song – which also appears to be directed against his morning rants and attacks on the LGBTQ community on social media – was released on Trump’s 73rd birthday and in the middle of Pride Month.

“Why are you mad when you could be GLAAD?” she sings, referring to the LGBTQ advocacy group.

But Swift expressed her dislike of Trump even more directly than in her not-so-subtle lyrics.

“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, do you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?” she wrote on X at the start of the Black Lives Matter protests.

Three months later, Swift wrote in another tweet: “Donald Trump’s ineffective leadership has massively exacerbated the crisis we are in and now he is exploiting it to undermine and destroy our right to vote and vote safely.”

CNN will broadcast Trump’s debate with President Joe Biden in Atlanta on Thursday night, while Swift continues her record-breaking Eras Tour in Ireland on Friday.
