Emma Roberts previews the new series “Calabasas” with Kim Kardashian: She wants it to be “The Next OC”

Emma Roberts And Kim Kardashian are from co-stars on American Horror Story: Tender to co-executive producers of the upcoming Netflix series Calabasas.

Roberts, 33, previewed the show on Thursday, June 27, during an appearance on SiriusXM’s In the spotlight with Jessica Shaw.

“Kim and I are executive producers of a series for Netflix called Calabasas”, said Roberts. “We have the amazing Marlene Kingwho has pretty Little Liarsas our showrunner. I am obsessed with her and pretty Little Liars. I remember watching the show and thinking, ‘I wish I was on the show.’ It was just so cool and so much fun.”

What the plot of CalabasasRoberts was not willing to reveal much.

“I mean, there’s not really much I can share other than I feel like I want, well, the next one, That’s OKand I think if we do this right, it will be a little That’s OKa little pretty Little Liars”, said Roberts. “Kim and I are just two Calabasas Girls returning to our roots.”

Deadline first reported in April that Netflix had landed the series, saying two other “major buyers” were involved in the bidding. The outlet also reported Calabasas would be based on About Bleidner‘s book If you lived here, you would be famous now.

According to the synopsis, the book is a “collection of funny and warm-hearted coming-of-age stories in the suburbs of Los Angeles.”

The Daily Beast called it “An unfiltered, thoughtful and witty insider’s perspective on the suburb where the Kardashian-Jenners and the Bling Ring were born.”

Deadline shared more about the plot of Calabasasand said that, like the book it is based on, it is about high school student Via, who is sent from the Midwest to Calabasas High, “where nothing is as it seems and where everyone is trying to be someone else.”

Roberts previously served as executive producer on the 2022 Netflix series First killing and the Hulu series 2022 Tell me lies. Kardashian, 43, has done most of her production work in reality TV. She was an executive producer on many episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians as well as her family’s Hulu series, The Kardashians.

Kardashian is also working on another acting project with American Horror Story‘S Robert F. Kennedyand said in June that she would play a lawyer.

“A top-notch divorce attorney. I will channel Laura Waters” she said earlier this month. “I’m really excited about it. And that trust that he believes in me to take on this project means a lot to me. And it feels so right that my character could be a lawyer in real life and play one on TV.”

Neither Kardashian nor Roberts have revealed whether they will also be in Calabasas.
