Recently, the Cleveland Rotary Club recognized two local educators as Paul Harris Fellows: Stephen McCanless, superintendent of Cleveland ISD, and Dr. Elna Davis, superintendent of Tarkington ISD.

The Paul Harris Fellow award is an honor given by Rotary International to individuals who have made significant contributions to The Rotary Foundation.

Named after Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, this award is given to those who donate $1,000 or more to the foundation or have that amount donated on their behalf.

This recognizes not only financial generosity, but also commitment to Rotary’s mission to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support education, and stimulate local economic growth.

The Paul Harris Fellow program highlights the impact of philanthropy and service and inspires others to participate in humanitarian efforts around the world.

Since 1979, the Cleveland Rotary Club has donated more than $116,000 to Rotary International through its Paul Harris Fellows, said West Smith, a Cleveland Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow.
