The merchandising of the Hawk Tuah girls is already bringing in a lot of money

If Hawk Tuah Girl was hesitant about her sudden overnight fame, things may be changing now that the money is pouring in. The viral star, whose real name is Hailey Welch, has reportedly started making good money from merchandise.

Rolling Stone contacted Fathead Threads, a local Tennessee clothing brand that partners with Welch to sell shirts and hats. Jason Poteete of Fathead told Rolling Stone that they have already sold about 2,000 hats, which roughly equates to revenue of about $65,000. Welch reportedly receives an undisclosed percentage of sales, but it is clear that she has made a decent amount of money from the merchandising.

In case you missed the mega-viral video, Hawk Tuah Girl first appeared in a Tim & Dee TV video where she was asked to do a “move in bed that drives a man crazy every time?”

She replied quite humorously: “Oh, you have to give them the falcon tuah‘ and spit on that thing! Do you hear me?” This has now become a major meme and clip on TikTok, X, and pretty much every other social media platform.

However, going viral doesn’t necessarily mean money. Poteete wanted to help Welch – who hasn’t given any interviews since the viral clip – monetize her moment.

“Of course, she didn’t get a cent from the first viral video that was released,” Poteete said Rolling Stone, while he does nothing, he has known Welch for years. “Nobody asked her permission to do anything. I just wanted her to get some profit out of this deal.”

Let’s hope Welch can squeeze every penny out of the video. Page Six reported that major talent agencies are in talks with Welch, which hopefully means more money for the viral star.
