Fear of war between Israel and Lebanon leads to numerous travel warnings – Israel News

Due to security concerns, countries around the world continue to issue travel warnings for Lebanon as tensions between Hezbollah and Israel suggest that all-out war is approaching.

The US Embassy in Lebanon urged citizens on Thursday to “urgently reconsider travel to Lebanon.” “The security situation remains complex and can change rapidly,” the security alert said.

The warning also said that U.S. citizens in Lebanon should not travel to southern Lebanon, the Lebanese-Syrian border area, or refugee settlements.

“Reconsider travel to Lebanon due to crime, terrorism, social unrest, kidnapping, unexploded landmines, and armed conflict,” said a U.S. State Department travel warning.

Canada’s security warning said people should avoid “all travel” to Lebanon because the security situation there is “deteriorating, the risk of terrorist attacks persists and the armed conflict with Israel continues.”

The warnings from Canada and the UK also said that the security situation could deteriorate further without warning.

The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advises against all travel to Lebanon.

“Travel within or from Lebanon is at your own risk,” the FCDO warning states.

In April, France warned its citizens against traveling to Lebanon, Iran, Israel and the Palestinian territories because Iran was threatening its opponents in the region.
