Detroit Pistons and Timberwolves complete trade before second round of NBA Draft

The first round of the 2024 NBA Draft is over.

The second round is just around the corner and the Detroit Pistons are making some moves before the tournament resumes.

Accordingly The athletics Shams Charania, the Pistons acquire Wendell Moore Jr. and a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. According to the report, the Pistons have the opportunity to enter the race with the 37th overall pick.

Moore, a former first-round pick from Duke, has two years of NBA experience under his belt.

After being selected 26th overall by the Timberwolves in 2022, he appeared in 29 games in his rookie season. Moore spent an average of five minutes on the court and averaged just one point on 42 percent shooting.

Moore appeared in 25 games in his sophomore year last season. He comes to Detroit with only two starts.

With limited playing time on the main roster, Moore spent some time playing for Minnesota’s G League affiliate. Last year, he averaged 31 minutes in eight games. At the developmental level, Moore scored 19 points per game on 42 percent shooting. He attempted six three-pointers and sank 30 percent.

To get Moore and the 37th pick, the Pistons are trading up their original second-round pick in this year’s draft. Before the trade, they were on track to select the 53rd overall. Now, they’ll get to the line much sooner to sign their second rookie from the current class.

On Wednesday night, the Pistons started the first round of the draft with the fifth pick. When it was their turn, they selected NBA G League Ignite star Ron Holland.
