Two big OL targets of Michigan State Football are close to being decided

Jonathan Smith, Michigan State University’s new football coach, has been on the hunt for players lately, and was able to expand the Spartans’ 2025 roster to 13 players after no commitments were made prior to spring ball.

Now that he has over a dozen, he can be even more selective about who he accepts into his class, and with the official visiting season for the summer coming to an end, there are a number of top candidates who have decisions to make.

In fact, two of Michigan State’s top offensive line prospects in 2025 announced this week that they will make their decisions by the end of June.

The first player to be recruited on June 28th will be three-star offensive lineman Darius Afalava.

The Lehi, Utah, junior is ranked No. 430 in his class and the 26th-best offensive lineman in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. He would be a huge asset, especially since Oklahoma, Washington and Utah are no slouches. His first official visit was to Michigan State on May 31 and his last was to Washington last weekend. He also visited Oklahoma, Utah and UCLA.

Jim Michalczik would love to add this 6’5″, 315lb player to his central defense.

The second major target announced on June 30 was three-star offensive lineman Houston Kaahaaina-Torres from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Perhaps the Spartans will end the month with some good news from this Hawaii native, and it’s nice to see that they’ve reached a pretty winnable Final Four with Arizona State, Nebraska and Utah. The Cornhuskers have the only crystal ball for him, but Michalczik’s track record gives the Spartans a real chance.

The offensive line is currently full with Drew Nichols and Justin Bell, but signing either of these two players would be huge.
