Which Taylor Swift song is in season 3 of The Bear?

FX must have paid a pretty penny to license a Taylor Swift song for the third season of The Bear.

In the fourth episode of the third season of The Bear, Taylor Swift’s song “Long Live (Taylor’s Version)” is used. This happens when Frank (Josh Hartnett) opens the door to Eva (Annabelle Toomey).

This is not the first time Swift is mentioned in the series. Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Eva hugged in season 2. Richie then revealed his love for Swift.

Later in the season, Tiffany (Gillian Jacobs) wore a t-shirt with the 1989 album cover. Richie also spent a lot of time throughout the season buying tickets for Swift’s “Eras” tour. In the seventh episode, Richie also belts out “Love Story (Taylor’s Version).”

Swift has obviously been a big influence on The Bear. It’s great to see that the show can continually reference the “Shake It Off” singer and use her music in the series.

What is “Long Live”?

Swifties will know that “Long Live” is a song included on Swift’s third studio album, Speak Now. Although it was never released as a single, the song was included in several of her concert tours.

On the “Eras” tour, which is still in full swing at the time of this writing, Swift has performed the song 44 times. Its tour debut was during her July 7, 2023 show in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then, it has been played 43 more times, with the most recent performance being on March 9, 2024, during a show in Singapore.

The song was also re-recorded for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). This version was used for the third season of The Bear. Speak Now was Swift’s third album to be re-recorded, after Fearless and Red, and followed in 1989. Still to be re-recorded are Reputation and Swift’s eponymous debut album.

What is “The Bear” about?

The Bear is an FX comedy-drama series that follows Carmen (Jeremy Allen White), a renowned chef who is tasked with taking over his family’s sandwich shop after his brother dies. He must return to Chicago, where running the business comes with hurdles such as debt, family conflict, and an outdated kitchen.

The series was a huge success. Season 1 debuted on June 23, 2022. A second season followed almost a year later on June 22, 2023. Season 3 of The Bear was released on June 26, 2024, and all episodes are available to stream.

Jeremy Allen White plays Carmen as the lead character. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri also play Richie and Sydney in the series, respectively. Other cast members include Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott and Matty Matheson.

The supporting cast also includes stars such as Joel McHale, Oliver Platt, Alex Moffat and Molly Gordon, who also appear in the series. Guest stars in the series include Jon Bernthal, Will Poulter, Bob Odenkirk, Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Colman, John Mulaney and John Cena.

The Bear has received 13 Emmy nominations and won 10 awards, including Best Comedy Series 2023. White, Edebiri and Moss-Bachrach also won acting Emmys for their respective performances.
