Megan thee Stallion cancels Glasgow show at short notice

Rapper Megan thee Stallion has cancelled her performance in Glasgow just over a week before the scheduled date.

The singer was scheduled to perform at the OVO Hydro on July 4 as part of her Hot Girl Summer tour.

However, the 29-year-old has now announced additional appearances in the US, including one in Atlanta the night before her scheduled performance in Scotland.

Their other dates in the UK were subsequently postponed, but due to a “construction site” at the Hydro, the performance has now been cancelled completely.

OVO Hydro announced that the venue was not available for the new date requested by the rapper and her management.

Numerous fans expressed their unhappiness over the news on social media and described the short-notice cancellation as “ridiculous”.

In an Instagram post, the singer explained: “With the Dallas Mavericks making it to the NBA Finals and the HGS show in Dallas being rescheduled, we’ve had to reschedule some of our tour dates to accommodate the change, but I’m still soooooo excited to come see you and perform for you.”

“To my Glasgow Hotties I promise I will be there soon. The venue has informed us of a complex building project which will result in the closure of the venue and forcing us to cancel the show. But we will find a date in the future!!! I love you all and can’t wait to see you.”

The singer’s collaboration with Cardi B, WAP, topped the UK charts in September 2020 and was hailed as one of the best and most provocative songs of the year.

Further shows on the tour – in Birmingham, Manchester and London – will take place from July 14th.

A spokesman for the Scottish Event Campus, where the Hydro is based, said: “This date could have actually gone ahead, however the artist had to reschedule the original date and the venue was not available on the requested dates.”

They added that they hoped she would perform at the venue in the future.
