Tony Schiavone announces he lost his voice on AEW Dynamite

Last night was the final episode of AEW Dynamite before the third edition of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The show opened with former AEW World Heavyweight Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman, MJF.

AEW color commentator Tony Schiavone always plays a key role on the commentary desk. As usual, he was part of the team from the beginning. However, as the show went on, Schiavone was nowhere to be seen. Taz also joked about Schiavone’s absence, claiming he went to the back and may have some duties backstage.

Tony Schiavone was last heard from as the opening segment came to a close. MJF and Daniel Garcia had a moment, but it was seemingly ruined by Will Ospreay. He challenged Daniel Garcia and put all of his championship gold on the line, saying a little too quickly that he would put the AEW World Heavyweight Title on the line as well. Ospreay will challenge current champion Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title this Sunday at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

When the above segment ended, Schiavone was nowhere to be seen. One fan took to Twitter to question Tony’s absence.

“Anyone know what happened to @tonyschiavone24?? Where did he go? #AEWDynamite,” one fan tweeted.

Schiavone acknowledged the tweet and responded by saying that he had lost his voice and had to turn back. Tony Schiavone also mentioned that he had been struggling with this issue all weekend.

“I lost my voice. It’s been bothering me all weekend. Thanks for asking,” said Tony Schiavone.

We at Wrestlezone wish Schiavone a speedy recovery.
