Love Island’s Maya Jama denies argument with Aftersun co-star

Love Island star Maya Jama has denied she was “stressed” by comments made by her Aftersun co-star Jordan Stephens.

The “Rizzle Kicks” singer appeared on the Love Island spin-off show to give his verdict on the current villa couples as part of a celebrity judging panel alongside former Love Island contestants Indiyah Polack and Amy Hart.

During the episode, Stephens was asked about his opinion on Joey Essex and Grace Jackson, who he felt were not a good fit. He told Maya, “We know what she wants, and that’s not Joey.” The comment drew an awkward laugh from Maya.

In an Instagram story she shared after her performance, Maya confirmed that she was not “stressed” during the exchange and spoke about her friendship with the musician.

“For those who don’t know, @jordanfstephens is one of my best friends (some of you think his comments on Aftersun stress me out and I love it, I’m just being professional),” Maya captioned the photo alongside a photo of the two posing together backstage.

Maya and Jordan have been colleagues and friends for years. The two also appeared together on the ITV2 panel show “Don’t Hate The Playaz” in 2019.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan last August, Maya admitted that Jordan would be one of her favorite guests at a house party, telling the publication, “Depending on where everyone is, I always invite Chynon, Letitia, Rhea, Jordan (Stephens), Abuk, Tiffany (Calver), Chunkz and Filly. They all bring such a good vibe!”

This week there were two new sex bombs in the Love Island villa: Trey Norman and Jessy Potts.

In last night’s episode, new girl Jessy decided to go on a date with Joey Essex, which led to drama between him and his current partner Grace.

The islander told Joey that she was tired of him constantly showing himself to other girls and wanting to “explore” while she sat around and waited for him to return.

In response, Joey admitted that he is not currently “completely closed off” in his relationship with Grace.

Love Island will be broadcast on ITV2 and streamed on ITVX.
