Terminator Zero expands voice cast, including Rosario Dawson

As previously announced, the new anime series Terminator Zerocomes to Netflix on “Judgment Day”, 29 August 2024. The anime comes from the Japanese animation studio Production IG (Ghost in the Shell). The eight-part series will be part of the Terminator universe, but will revolve around new characters. It will be the first animated iteration of the franchise.

While it was previously announced that Timothy Olyphant will lend his voice to the Terminator, Netflix has just announced further casting news:

Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka, similarities) will play Kokoro – an advanced AI and Japan’s answer to Skynet. When Kokoro goes online, he will be equipped with the same power as Skynet. Kokoro must decide for himself: Is humanity the plague that Skynet believes it to be? Or are people worth saving?

Andre Holland (Moonlight, The Knick) will voice Malcolm Lee – Malcolm Lee, a brilliant computer programmer and father of three, is haunted by prophetic nightmares of an apocalyptic future. He has spent the last decade trying to create a secret artificial intelligence that he believes will be humanity’s last hope.

Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon, Crazy Rich Asians) plays Eiko – Eiko comes from the post-Judgement Day period in 2022 and is a resistance fighter who was sent back in time to stop Malcolm from sending Kokoro into the world.

Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, MASS) will lend his voice to the Prophet – In the future, the Prophet is the philosophical leader of human resistance, a light that guides survivors through the darkness of the unknown future.

Terminator Zero is established in the Terminator Universe, but with new characters at the center. Mattson Tomlin, who worked on the scripts for The Batman and the upcoming sequel, is the author and showrunner of this series, which has the following synopsis: 2022: For decades, a future war has raged between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI ​​known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity.
