Marjorie Taylor Greene freaks out over Trump question on Australian television and is interrupted

Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) grew increasingly angry Tuesday as an Australian news anchor’s questions turned to former President Donald Trump and whether she would accept the outcome of the 2024 election if President Joe Biden wins.

Conspiracy theorist Greene appeared on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s “7.30” to talk about her joy at the release and return of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to Australia.

However, she reacted irritably every time moderator Sarah Ferguson tried to steer the topic toward the likely Republican presidential candidate.

Greene tried to provoke Ferguson by asking her if she was a “serious interviewer” and claiming she could not be taken seriously.

Ferguson, however, persisted and asked towards the end of the exchange: “If it doesn’t go in your favor and Biden wins, will you accept the result?”

Greene countered: “Again, what does this have to do with Julian Assange? Seriously, we should be talking about this. What channel is this? What is this? ABC in Australia? Is she getting her marching orders from the Democratic Party? I mean, is this what you came up with today?”

Ferguson pointed out that Greene, who was once considered a possible vice presidential candidate for Trump, is “a prominent figure in US politics” and that the American presidential election “is of concern not only to Americans but to the entire world.” She explained her questions by saying that she was “naturally curious.”

“But I understand that we’ve reached the end of the questions you want to answer,” she told Greene. “Thank you for talking to us about Julian Assange and for participating in the show.”

Greene took off her microphone and the interview ended.

On Thursday, Greene wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that she “has always wanted to go to Australia” and “is sure Australians are just as wonderful as Americans.”

She added: “The Australian press, on the other hand, is obviously made up of brainless robots, muttering the same stupid arguments of their government leaders. Just like ours.”

Earlier this week, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt’s interview with CNN’s Kasie Hunt was also cut short (albeit much, much earlier) after Leavitt refused to stop attacking Hunt’s colleagues Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, the moderators of the first Trump-Biden debate the network is hosting in Atlanta on Thursday.

“You come on my show. You respect my colleagues. Period,” Hunt subsequently wrote on X. “I don’t care which side of the aisle you’re on, as my track record clearly shows.”
