Walking aid Star Jared Padalecki has revealed what the story of the fifth season would have looked like if the series had not been canceled prematurely, and given a taste of how things would have unfolded after the series finale. A reboot of the 1990s western series Walker, Texas Ranger, the new version of Walking aid was canceled by The CW in May 2024, weeks before the final episode of season 4. This makes season 4 the official end of the series, although there were many ideas for season 5 and a general plan for how the series should continue.

Speak with diversityPadalecki shared what could be a possible Walking aid Season 5, if the series hadn’t ended with Season 4. The actor explained that Violet Brinson’s Stella and Kale Culley’s Auggie would get more screen time in the future, while a new character played by James Van Der Beek would have played a suspicious newcomer who may be involved in criminal activity. Check out what Padalecki had to say below:

Yes, there was so much to process now that Violet (Brinson) and Kale (Culley) are both young adults. They’re not kids like they were four years ago, literally or figuratively. So there was a lot we wanted to explore with them – like how much the sins of the father can be passed on to offspring and how much Stella and/or August have unfortunately (inherited) their father’s bad qualities as well, which we’ve been dealing with with Stella this year. She’s a lot like her father in both good and bad ways.

But we were very excited to have James (Van Der Beek) on the show. He’s a personal friend and lives here in Austin. It wasn’t necessarily going to be like the Walker-Davidson feud (from Season 2), and Season 5 certainly wasn’t written that way, but I think there would be a very interesting dynamic that maybe Cordell wasn’t expecting because he put his duties as a law enforcement officer on the back burner. We thought maybe James and his crew were up to no good, and Walker was just blind to it.

Walker was a guy who would either say “no way” or “no way”; he was either fully engaged or he wasn’t aware of it. And that was good when he was fully engaged in doing a job or working with his family. But it was bad when he wasn’t aware of, “Oh no, the kids are fine. I’m fine. They’re nice. Don’t be suspicious of this person or that person.” And he kind of got stuck in his own head, like we all do sometimes. So we wanted to explore that.
