Taylor Swift party, Dave Matthews tribute and more light up the beaches

Locals along the beach traditionally consider the last weekend in June to be the calm before the Fourth of July storm. Tourists sometimes stay home and save their money before Independence Day, which is also when the summer season really kicks into high gear. However, concert venues along the coast already have entertainment programs as hot as the recent weather.

In Dewey Beach, Bottle & Cork nightclub hosted sold-out country shows by Jake Owen and Sarah Evans last week and will now present a series of concerts spanning various musical genres. Note that all of these events begin shortly after doors open at 8 p.m. On Thursday, June 27, the Cork welcomes Trippin Billies: The Dave Matthews Tribute Band ($30). Country star Chris Lane performs on Friday, June 28 ($40 presale, $43 at the door).

On Wednesday, July 3, the Cork will once again present The Taylor Party ($25). This is the third time in recent months that the traveling DJ dance party honoring Taylor Swift has stopped by the Dewey—once previously at the Cork and once at its nearby sister venue, Rusty Rudder. (Each of these bookings sold out by the time the show began.) Admission is limited to those 21 and older.

As recently mentioned in this column, local music promoter Marissa Levy Lerer opened the new location of her original music venue, The Listening Booth, over Memorial Day weekend. It is now located in the Coastal Plaza shopping center on Route 1 south at Midway. A double bill of Americana music is planned for the coming weekend. On Friday, June 28, North Carolina-based quartet Time Sawyer will perform after a performance by Jackson Vari at 7 p.m. ($25). On Saturday, June 29, Philly favorite JD Webb & the Good God Damn will perform after a performance by Katie Dill at 7 p.m. ($35).

Seacrets from Ocean City heat up concert series with reggae and rock acts

In Ocean City, the annual summer concert series at Seacrets continues on Wednesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. with a performance by Jamaican reggae trio FYAH (Free Your Authentic Heart) on the open-air beach. Admission is just $5 (or free with a local ID).

Seacrets also announced a last-minute addition to this year’s summer series. Tickets are now on sale for a performance by Boston rock quartet Ripe on Tuesday, August 13. The concert follows an opening set by Dreamfone at 7 p.m. ($20).

Burley Oak hosts an alt-bluegrass group from Montana

In nearby Berlin, Burley Oak Brewing Company will host Montana alt-bluegrass group The Kitchen Dwellers on Wednesday, July 3 ($26). Doors open at 6 p.m., a yet-to-be-announced opening act will play at 7 p.m., and The Kitchen Dwellers will play their headlining set at 8 p.m. Tickets are also on sale for a Saturday, July 20 show with jam band Better Off Dead ($20).
