BANG’s Timo Elliston serves as music producer for the PBS children’s animated series “City Island Sings!”

City Island Sings!, produced by Future Brain Media and Augenblick Studios, is a new spinoff of the award-winning animated series City Island on PBS KIDS. Created by Aaron Augenblick, the show features designs by Gemma Correll and songs by Tunde Adebimpe of Brooklyn’s TV On The Radio with lyrics by Dan Powell.

After producing the theme song for the first season, Elliston joined the City Island team as music producer for the series City Island Sings! The music video series is the first in the channel’s new line of civic content. “It’s a throwback to the cartoon songs I grew up listening to on Saturday mornings as a kid,” said Timo. “The content is educational, but there’s a lot of humor in it too. Aaron and the Augenblick team are really skilled at making things entertaining. There’s a lot of laughter at these sessions.”

The videos showcase an eclectic mix of musical genres. “Part of the fun is the wide range of musical influences and how much ground Tunde and Dan covered with their lyrics,” Timo continued. “And to top it all off, we were able to put it together with this incredible line-up.”

The stars behind the characters include Kimiko Glenn, Julio Torres, Ellen Cleghorne, Michael-Leon Wooley, Kimia Behpoornia, James Adomian, Rachel Pegram, Branson Reese and James III.

In addition to the new music video series, the second season of City Island will premiere on PBS KIDS on July 5.

City Island is a series of animated short films for elementary school children set in a thriving metropolis and vibrant city where every object is a character. The series includes local organizations, government institutions and a diverse citizenry, and explores themes such as collaboration, conflict resolution and urban planning.
