The young Season 4 is halfway through and thankfully some momentum has started to build. The titular team is at an all-time low after Starlight channeled her anger into Firecracker’s face and Butcher wreaked havoc at their rally. In the latest episode, Butcher’s bigger plan takes shape, even as he continues to be a thorn in everyone’s side with his foul mouth.

The Generation V The Supe-Virus has finally made its way into the world of The young and with the help of Joe Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Butcher sets out to find it, which leads to a team-up with Stan Edgar. Combined with the return of the former Vought CEO, some returning characters, a tragic end for each other, and an outrageous sequence involving flying, flesh-eating sheep, this is another solid entry in Season 4.

With V’ed Up Farm Animals the boys can be silly again

After a few self-serious episodes, it is a refreshing breather

Butcher, Starlight, MM, Frenchie and Kimiko head to the north of the state with Stan Edgar to search for the Supe virus. This leads to Victoria Neuman’s secret laboratory where animals were experimented on. When Neuman shows up, a tense search is underway for the virus and the father of Neuman’s child, a lab technician who works in her lab.

It is one of the more unusual scenes of this season and it simply shows that
The young
doesn’t have to try too hard to be crazy and funny.

Everything about this change of location is a welcome change for The young Season 4, which has so far been confined to the dirty and grey streets of New York. It’s all still pretty grim – the upstate farm is snow-covered and as grey as it gets – but it allows the series to stretch and get a little spooky.

The backlash to season 4 of The Boys ignores what the show has been for the past 5 years

The fourth season of “The Boys” was met with heavy criticism from viewers, making it the most polarizing episode of the series to date – but the comments are nothing new.

So who is the boys’ freak? A gang of man-eating sheep and chickens with tentacles. After Neuman’s lab technician pumps them full of V, things go wrong on the farm and Butcher and the gang have to fight off the bloodthirsty animals to get out alive. It’s one of the more outlandish scenes of the season and just shows that The young doesn’t have to try very hard to be crazy and funny. Sometimes a flying sheep with razor-sharp teeth is enough.

Hughie’s story ends tragically

Episode 4 ends Simon Pegg’s role

Hughie’s plan to give V to his father was bound to end badly from the start, and it’s odd that one of the show’s more cautious characters was so willing to take that risk. It’s Hughie’s estranged mother who ends up giving V to Hugh Sr., and the consequences are suitably tragic. Simon Pegg, Jack Quaid, and Rosemarie Dewitt make the most of this story, even if Hughie’s mother Daphne doesn’t seem fully developed.

This doesn’t lessen the emotional impact of Hugh Sr.’s inevitable death, however, and as the effects of the V take hold, he accidentally kills several people in a bloody hospital rampage. While Pegg’s presence was always minimal, it was very welcome, and it’s sad to see him go, with Hughie and Hugh Sr. sharing one final, heartbreaking scene.

The Seven remain Vought dolls – for now

Homelander is shocked by the laboratory massacre in Episode 4

The seven spend most of their time at V52, a Comic-Con-like convention that goes for the easy prey and once again parodies MCU and DC. Tek Knight, who appears here for the first time since his role in Generation Vmakes a particularly funny dig at The Batmanwho announced a 12-minute sequence in his upcoming film, The Tek Knightthat is, the screen is completely dark.

The V52 con allows the return of two keys Generation V Characters in The young Season 4 – Sam and Cate, now known as the Guardians of Godolkin. They don’t have much to do, but it’s exciting to see them, especially after Generation V blew the first season away. How their characters come into play as the season progresses remains to be seen, but it seems like this won’t be the last we’ve seen of them.

Meanwhile, Homelander is still on the verge of a nervous breakdown and is dazed after the massacre at Vought Labs in Episode 4, where he murdered everyone except Barbara. He continues to take his anger out on Ryan, and young star Cameron Corvetti continues to deliver a layered performance as the son of the evil Supe.

Otherwise, the Seven does not have much to do, because The young puts everything in place for the final few episodes of season four. Butcher cunningly rescues Neuman’s lab assistant to develop more of the Supe virus, and it seems he continues to give in to his worst impulses, much to everyone else’s dismay. Right now, it’s hard to see how everything will fit together, but like Butcher’s plan, things are starting to fall into place.

The young Season 4, Episode 5 is now streaming on Prime Video.

Poster for the fourth season of “The Boys” shows Homelander with Victoria Neuman surrounded by confetti

The Boys is a superhero/black comedy satire series created by Eric Kripke and based on the comic book series of the same name. It is set in a “what if” world where superheroes are worshipped as celebrities and gods who face minimal consequences for their actions. However, a group of vigilantes led by a vengeful man named Billy Butcher will fight back against these superpowered “heroes” to expose them for what they are.
