Music festival lineup for Wesselman Woods show “For Sake of the Song”

EVANSVILLE – Alternative country lovers will want to flock to Wesselman Woods in August when Sarah Shook and the Disarmers take the main stage at this year’s For the Sake of the Song music festival.

Shook and her band’s latest album, “Revelations,” was released on March 29, and the free show on August 31 in Evansville takes place between stops in Michigan and Atlanta.

In a recent article in the Washington Post, Shook talks about how he handles the production of Disarmer’s latest release to ensure they sound like themselves. The musician likes that his voice isn’t perfect.

“But I never intended to be a great singer, just like I never intended to be a great guitarist,” Shook said in the article. “Songwriting is everything, and I just have to do these other things to get my songs out there in the world.”

Shook and her band will join at least eight other artists in the second year of the songwriter-focused festival, which is hosted by local musician Zach Evans, who previously co-organized the long-running ParksFest.

The Odonata Lake Amphitheater’s main stage features Shook and the Disarmers, The Randys, Brick Briscoe & Cory Folz, and The Lowland Ramblers. The Songwriters Circle features Andrew Baum, Cynthia Bourne, David Davis, Loralye, Toby Ellis, and Warren Nicholson.

The free event also features food trucks and a beer garden at Bokeh Lounge.
