Before we get started, I want to wish you all a Happy Juneteenth. To all the Black people out there, I hope you take the day off to relax, celebrate, and enjoy some well-deserved time off.

It looks like Taylor Swift is quickly becoming known to the public as a thief – and I’m about to explain it all to you. Let’s find out why girls are staring at Ms. Swift so bombastically.

Swift has been releasing reissues of her album, The Tortured Poets Department, since its initial release on April 19. Earlier this year, fans speculated that Billie Eilish might be backstabbing Swift after she told Billboard that it was “wasteful” for artists to release multiple versions of vinyl albums. “As someone who is trying to be sustainable, I find that really frustrating,” Eilish said. “Then you see some of the biggest artists in the world making 40 different vinyl packages with unique features just to get you to buy more.”

Angry.

That same month, Eilish announced her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which was set to be released on May 17. And guess what? Swift released three new editions of The Tortured Poets Department just one day before Eilish’s new album. Social media went wild, with one fan calling Swift “greedy.”

Oh, but there’s more.

According to The Guardian, Charli XCX’s album “Brat” was predicted to reach No. 1 in the UK the week of June 14. But then Swift released six UK-only album variants around the same time and snagged the No. 1 spot instead, leaving Charli XCX out of that feat.

Of course, the fans didn’t keep quiet about it.

I’m disappointed that Taylor Swift seems to be trying to stop Charli XCX and Billie Eilish from reaching the top of the charts. Given Swift’s immense status in the music world, it seems unnecessary and somewhat selfish to use this tactic to keep climbing to the top. She has already accomplished so much and has a huge fan base that guarantees her success.

You’d think Swift would celebrate and embrace new talent rather than try to overshadow them. Her focus should be on enjoying her well-deserved success and supporting up-and-coming artists. In doing so, she could help foster a more inclusive and supportive music industry where everyone has a fair chance to break into the spotlight.
