Pearl Jam performs Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” for lost friends in Seattle

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder has contributed a previously unreleased version of English Beat’s 1982 hit “Save It for Later” to the third season of FX’s The bearThe song was already teased in a trailer for the show, which used Pearl Jam songs like “Animal” and a live version of “Come Back” as dubs in previous seasons.

No further details about this recording of “Save It for Later” have been released, including who plays the saxophone solo. Pearl Jam has incorporated elements of the song into their performances of “Better Man” since 1996, and at the very end of the new version, Vedder can be heard briefly singing “can’t find a better man.”

Vedder also posted a 7-inch vinyl single of “Save It for Later” on Instagram, credited to his own label Seattle Surf Co., but it’s unclear if it’s intended for commercial release in that format. It’s currently only available on streaming services.

The bear Executive producers Josh Senior and Christopher Storer are self-professed fans of ’90s music. As part of the second season, which was released last year, the show included a rare remix of REM’s 1994 song “Strange Currencies” and featured several other versions of it as needle drops throughout the episodes.

Meanwhile, Pearl Jam has begun its European tour for their latest album. Dark matterand will next perform on Saturday (June 29) at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The second North American leg continues on August 22 in Missoula, Mt.
