Kansas City Chiefs rookie joins Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras ​​Tour’ in Cardiff

Newcomer to the Kansas City Chiefs Louis Rees-Zammit shared pictures and clips from his evening at the Grammy winner’s concert in his home country of Wales on Tuesday, June 18. In an Instagram Story video, 23-year-old Rees-Zammit could be heard singing “Love Story” from Swift’s Fearless Set with his concert colleagues at the Principality Stadium.

He followed the footage by reposting a picture from his brother Taylor Rees-Zammit’s Instagram story showing the two white Epoch Tour T-shirts. The post included an Instagram story sticker that read “Swifties.”

Louis, a former rugby union player, signed with the Chiefs as a running back in March. “Chiefs Kingdom let’s get to work ⚡️🙏🏽🔥,” he captioned an Instagram post of his signing on March 29.

Louis joined the NFL this year as a free agent in the International Pathway Player, a program that recruits international athletes to the league.

“When the field is open, I feel like I’m playing rugby again,” Louis said during the Chiefs’ three-day rookie camp last month, according to ESPN. “I can use my awareness when I’m in the space. That’s when I do the most damage.”

The Chiefs began their 10-day OTA (organized team activities) last month, followed by their three-day minicamp that begins June 11. The athletes will continue training throughout the summer before opening the 2024 NFL season with a home game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5.

Swifts Epoch Tour sparked her relationship with Kelce when he unsuccessfully tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it during one of her performances in Kansas City in July 2023. The two came into contact after Kelce discussed the attempt on his podcast “New Heights” and were officially together when Swift, 34, attended one of his NFL games in September 2023.

Just as Swift supported the athlete at several of his football games, including Super Bowl LVIII in February, Kelce traveled internationally to attend many of her Epoch Tour concerts. Most recently, he saw Swift perform in Paris, where she performed a brand new set of songs from her latest studio album. The “Tortured Poets” section.

Among the new songs was “So High School,” a song about Kelce. The number’s staging and choreography seem to contain nods to the tight end, as the stage steps are lit up to look like stadium bleachers, and Swift’s dances recreate some of Kelce’s touchdown dances.

Aside from Louis’ presence, Swift’s Cardiff show was full of unforgettable moments. The pop star formed an adorable twin with the recipient of her “22” hat, who wore a matching “Not a Long Going on at the Moment” T-shirt. Swift also notably interrupted her surprise song to help a fan in need.

“We need help right in front of me please,” she said while sitting at her piano, according to social media videos. “I’m not going to sing until they get help, but you guys are so amazing and in such a good mood. You really have to thank the Principality Stadium because they’re looking after you so quickly and I love seeing that. We have to look after those amazing people in Cardiff tonight because you’ve been so generous.”
