“Six hours to save democracy.” Decal & Submarine Deluxe have released an official trailer for a deeply disturbing, fascinating and unforgettable documentary film entitled War gameby directors Jesse Moss (The Overnighters, Boys State, Girls State, Mayor Pete, The Mission) & Tony Gerber. This film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and attracted a lot of attention. The film is a “realistic political thriller” that will be released on January 6, 2025 – War game imagines a nationwide uprising in which some members of the U.S. military defect and support the defeated presidential candidate, while the winning candidate and his numerous advisers – played by an all-star roster of high-ranking officials from the last five administrations (who actually know those jobs) – play out the crisis in the White House Situation Room. They have 6 hours to save democracy as the country teeters on the brink of civil war. In this doc, respected U.S. officials simulate a coup after a disputed election. Insurgents are seizing capitals and challenging the president’s military control. Combating disinformation is critical while emphasizing the bipartisan defense of democracy. War Game takes audiences into an elaborate future simulation where the threat posed by the January 6, 2021 insurrection dramatically increases. The film follows a bipartisan group of U.S. defense, intelligence, and elected officials from five presidential administrations as they participate in an unscripted role-playing exercise. Taking on the roles of a fictional President of the United States and his advisors, they confront a political coup backed by renegade members of the U.S. military in the wake of a contested 2024 presidential election. Like actors in a thriller, but with deep real-world stakes, players have just six hours to save American democracy. War game is directed jointly by documentary filmmakers Jesse Moss (Director of cheater, Full battle rattle, The overnight guests, The bandit, Boys State, Girls State, Mayor Pete, The mission) and Tony Gerber (Titanic: The Last Word with James Cameron, Side Streets, The Notorious Mr. Bout“Kingdom of the White Wolf”).
