Idina Menzel shares “Enchanted,” a never-before-heard song with James Marsden that was cut from the film

It was the song that never existed – but now Idina Menzel gives it some shine!

On Tuesday, the actress spoiled her Instagram followers with an insider tip from the 2007 film, Enchanted – a A song cut from the film that she sings with her co-star James Marsden.

“Recovered from the cutting room floor. How dare they!!! We were so cute! @james_marsden,” Menzel wrote.

In the clip, Menzel’s character Nancy Tremaine is fitted for a missing shoe by Marsden’s Prince Edward. After the perfect match, the pair embark on a string-led duet about the perfect timing of the events that brought them together in the magical world.

In the comments, fans asked how such a great song could be missing from the film.

“Why the hell did they cut this out????? I’m so glad you shared it with us. This will be on loop forever,” one user wrote.

“Why did they cut this out?!?!?! That makes sense because the title is in there 😅,” another user added.

“WAIT. You sang and they cut it out?!!!! NO,” wrote another user, referring to the fact that the Broadway star did not sing in the film.

Marsden didn’t react to the sweet scene.

Cursed – which is about a princess who is kidnapped from her fairytale land and brought to New York City – also starred Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, Patrick Dempsey and Julie Andrews.

In 2022, the cast reunited for the sequel. Disenchanted.

As she looks back on her past role, Menzel recently spoke to ET about her upcoming Broadway production, Redwood.

“It’s a show that I dreamt up with Tina Lando. Years ago, and we’re so excited to see it become a reality,” Menzel told ET at the 2024 Tony Awards. “It’s about a woman at a crossroads in her life. She gets in a car in New York and escapes everyone. She finds herself across the country. She finds herself at the foot of the mystical redwoods.”

redwoodwith music by Kate Diaz, will premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in February before coming to Broadway in 2025. Menzel leads the cast as Jesse, a grieving mother who takes a cross-country road trip to find solace in the redwood forests of Northern California. More details are expected to be announced later.

This is Menzel’s first return to Broadway since his leading role in If then from 2014-2015. She is best known for the roles of Maureen in Rent and Elphaba in Eviland lent Elsa her voice in Frozen.
