Derby-Shelton Rotary Club dedicates flags for heroes

DERBY, Conn. (WTHN) – Beautiful American flags.

“This patriotism and pride is just so moving… it’s just unbelievable,” said Linda Holmes-Hannon of the Rotary Club of Derby-Shelton.

Our Stars and Stripes take over parts of Derby and Shelton to honor heroes who put service above their own.

“In total, we had 325 flags in both communities,” said Holmes-Hannon.

This is the third annual Flags for Heroes event hosted by the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club as a way for the community to recognize all of our heroes.

You can purchase a flag for one or more heroes – including veterans, firefighters, teachers, nurses and active military heroes.

Homes-Hannon, a past Rotary president, brought this event to Derby and Shelton to give community members the opportunity to honor a loved one or someone they are grateful for.

“The real warriors are the heroes shown here,” said Homes-Hannon.
