Chris Blues debut album “Foundations: The Hymns of My Heart” reaches number 1 in the gospel album charts

Chris Bluethe winner of the 12th season of NBC’s “The Voice”, celebrates a successful debut week for his album, Basics: The Hymns of My Heartreleased by Gaither Music Group. The album enjoyed notable chart success, reaching #1 on the Gospel Albums chart, #2 on the Top Christian/Gospel Albums chart, and #158 on the Top Album Sales chart for all music genres, according to Luminate.

Capping off an exciting week, Blue made a special appearance on NBC this past Saturday, June 22, where he sang the national anthem for the U.S. Olympic diving qualification in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. The event, which took place in advance of the 2024 Summer Olympics, added a personal and meaningful touch to Blue’s celebrations.

Basics: The Hymns of My Heart is a 10-song collection featuring Blue’s soulful interpretations of songs that have had a significant impact on his life. An accompanying 13-track concert DVD features an interview with Blue moderated by a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame Bill Gaitheris also available.

“This is where my life, my story, my faith began. I really want people to know who I am at the core, so why not start at the beginning?” says Blue.

Blues YouTube premiere of Basics: The Hymns of My Heart on June 23 on Gaither Music TV’s YouTube channel garnered significant attention, and his TV special aired the same day on aspireTV. The special featured performances and interview footage that gave fans an intimate look into Blues’ musical journey. The special will continue to air on various networks throughout the late summer and fall, including RFD-TV, TBN, Heartland, CTN, TCT, The Walk TV, Vision Television & Hope TV (Canada), and The Miracle Channel (Canada). Blue’s musical journey began in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he began singing in church and with his family band at age three. He was ordained at age 12 and later became a worship leader. Blue’s career took off after winning The Voice in 2017, where his expressive vocal vibrato and dynamic stage presence made him a fan favorite.

The release of the album on Gaither Music brings things full circle for Blue. “When I was growing up, Mr. Gaither was the Billy Graham, the godfather of gospel, in our house,” Blue recalls. “It couldn’t get any bigger than that.”
