Thirteen years ago, Chris Evans became an important member of the Marvel franchise as Steve Rogers aka Captain America. He revealed that a particular scene in Avengers: Endgame which he saw at the premiere in front of a full audience, sent him on a rollercoaster of emotions.

The avenger Series have given viewers around the world many iconic scenes and moments to cherish for a lifetime. While these segments were designed to elicit these reactions from fans, the emotional significance of these moments was not lost on the Marvel actors either. Chris Evans was one of the celebrities who appeared during the premiere of Avengers: Endgame.

The charismatic star, who brought Captain America to life in the MCU, was one of the central characters of the stories alongside Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. While it’s obvious that Evans knew the storylines and plots inside and out, nothing could prepare him for the feeling he felt when he saw the film’s premiere in front of a packed audience.

He goes into more detail about a particularly timeless scene during the final battle that gave him goosebumps (via Marvel Facts), Evans described how this feeling of being one with the audience surpassed all the highs of being an actor.

When Cap lifts Mjolnir, our theater went crazy. Even though I knew this moment was coming, I was still emotional. In these moments, I’m not an actor, nor an adult; I’m a little kid again, completely captivated by the power and magic that movies can have.

The star added that he appreciated these moments even more when he received viral clips from friends and family showing viewers from all over the world going crazy watching this and many other scenes. That’s when he realized he would be forever grateful for this incredible opportunity to be part of an industry that could entertain people in this way.

Looking back, it’s difficult to imagine Chris Evans as anyone other than Captain America. But as fans know, the actor’s journey with the franchise began with his presence as the Human Torch in The fantastic FourThis existing contract almost ruined his chance to join the MCU.

When considerations for the role of Captain America began in 2010, Kevin Feige (via (The Hollywood Reporter) that the franchise was keen to cast only one American actor for obvious reasons. Evans, who was on the original list of possible candidates, was not further considered since he already played a Marvel character in The fantastic Four.

But as fate would have it, despite a pretty impressive selection of actors, Feige and his team were unable to find the perfect partner for Captain America. Ultimately, Marvel turned to Evans again for the role. Feige commented on this journey with the avenger Star and his considerations that led to his final casting.

We thought, “OK, so he’s that character, let’s keep looking.” And when we still didn’t find people, we went back to the original lists. And that brought us back to Chris. And I thought, “Well, Patrick Stewart played Jean-Luc Picard and Charles Xavier. Harrison Ford played Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Who cares?”

William Shakespeare once wrote: ‘All’s well that ends well’, and that was definitely the case with Chris Evans, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios thanks to this smart decision that brought great success to the franchise.
