Four-star WR Chris Stewart commits to Texas in 2026

Four-star WR Chris Stewart commits to Texas in 2026

While many are probably still trying to gather their composure following the signing of the Texas Longhorns baseball team, the coaching staff of the Texas football team continues to work hard on recruiting players.

The official summer visiting season is now behind us, but that doesn’t mean the staff isn’t trying to get their act together for the 2026 recruiting class. After securing the commitment of five-star quarterback Dia Bell last week, the Longhorns now have their top prospect in the class, and it now appears to be bearing fruit.

On Tuesday night, Pearland Shadow Creek wide receiver Chris Stewart, generally considered a four-star player, announced that he will join the Longhorns and become the second member of the 2026 recruiting class alongside Bell.

While wide receivers have been a popular topic for the class of 2025, Stewart has officially started the discussion for the class of 2026, as he is now the only talented player on board at Texas following the recent departure of Aledo running back Raycine Guillory.

Stewart had a breakthrough season in his second season at Shadow Creek, catching 35 passes for 654 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Stewart is currently ranked as the 33rd best wide receiver prospect for the 2026 class by 247Sports and is ranked 201st nationally in the same rankings.

Stewart also had offers from Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and USC, but ultimately chose the Longhorns.
