Frisky Michigan GOP Rep. Neil Friske claims he was ‘betrayed’ after being arrested for assaulting a stripper

Neil Friske, the fiery Michigan state legislator who was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a stripper, insisted in his first interview since his release from prison that the crime was “framed” from him.

Friske was arrested on June 20 after allegedly attacking an exotic dancer from the Deja Vu Showgirls Club, a strip club near his Lansing home, and chasing her with a gun in his hand.

“As many of us know, Representative Friske is a consistent exerciser of his Second Amendment rights,” his campaign team said on Facebook after the arrest.

Fox 2 Detroit reported that “police have asked the district attorney to file three charges, one for sexual assault, one for assault without sexual assault and one for possession of a weapon. Friske has been released without charge for now, pending an ongoing investigation.”

Friske denied any guilt and stated after his release the day after his arrest: “I am confident that this investigation will completely exonerate me.”

It is unclear what exactly happened before Fiske’s arrest at 2:45 a.m., as Lansing police denied The Post’s request for public records and video of the incident on the grounds that “publication would interfere with ongoing law enforcement investigations.”

But in his first appearance since his release, Friske stated with conviction that his enemies had accused him of being part of a conspiracy against him.

Friske was welcomed to the radio show “Your Defending Fathers” on Monday by host Trucker Randy, who told the congressman that hackers had planned to prevent the radio host from coming to his aid during an earlier segment of his show: “I don’t know if you know this or not, but I was cyberattacked here in the home studio and my main production facility was shut down at 3 a.m. on Friday because Jim Hoft had picked up the Gateway Pundit story and was going to read it on the radio and take listener statements about you and your character, and they didn’t want me to talk about it on Friday.” The plot thickens.

Trucker Randy continued, “The reason they didn’t want me to talk about it, Neil, is because of the reaction I got to all the text messages this morning.”

When asked what happened on June 20, Friske said it was clear to him that the blame had been placed on him.

The campaign described the timing of the arrest as “suspicious.” Neil Friske/Facebook

“Just by the way the events unfolded, it was very clear to me that something was wrong and that I was being set up… set up a trap, and that’s just how these people work,” the spokesman said. “It’s just so frustrating. It’s just unbelievable how desperate people are that they’ll go to such lengths to destroy someone.” Throughout the interview, Friske vaguely implied that an enemy had orchestrated his arrest.

These claims echo his campaign’s Facebook statement shortly after his arrest, which said the timing of his arrest was “highly suspicious” because it came “after an unknown phone number conducted a poll on the 107th race between Representative Friske and our deep state-connected opponent.”

“I just don’t understand how someone who claims to be an upstanding Christian person can run a campaign like that and then live with himself and expect people to vote for him,” Friske said.

It is unclear who Friske said was behind his arrest, but it may be Parker Fairbairn, his Republican primary opponent in the 107th District, who is backed by Michigan Rep. Jack Bergman.

Friske remained defiant, declaring, “I know there are skeptics out there telling me to resign, to suspend my campaign. I’m not going to do that. I don’t feel like that’s what God wants me to do, that’s not the message I’m getting from my supporters. And I haven’t done anything wrong, so why on earth would I do that?”
