Israeli drone attack kills sixth MSF member in Gaza

Doctors Without Borders (known by its French acronym MSF) has announced the killing of its sixth staff member in Gaza.

Physiotherapist Fadi al-Wadiya, 33, was killed on Tuesday along with five other people, including three children, in an Israeli drone strike near an MSF clinic in Gaza City.

At the time of the Israeli attack, Al-Wadiya was cycling to work.

“Nowhere in Gaza is safe,” Doctors Without Borders said in a statement. “Israeli forces have repeatedly attacked health workers and medical facilities, making it almost impossible for us to continue to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance.”

In its response to MSF’s statement, the Israeli army claimed – without providing any evidence – that al-Wadiya was a “major terrorist in Islamic Jihad.”

Doctors Without Borders described the killing of their colleague as “cynical and abhorrent.”

Elsewhere in the Gaza Strip, four people were killed and 12 injured in an Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahiya in the north of the Gaza Strip.

In the US, progressive congressman and Israel critic Jamaal Bowman lost his Democratic primary to George Latimer, who received generous funding and support from pro-Israel lobby groups in New York’s 16th congressional district.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) spent $14 million on the district’s primary election, making it the most expensive election campaign in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives.

AIPAC spends a total of $100 to oust progressive American politicians who have criticized Israel’s war on Gaza.

In his speech admitting defeat, Bowman vowed to continue fighting for his policies, including on Palestine.

“We will now continue to fight for a free Palestine, and God help us to build a better world where everyone understands that it is not anti-Semitic when we say ‘Free Palestine,'” he said.

The congressman, who regularly criticizes AIPAC, mentioned it again in his speech.

“We should be outraged when a dark money super PAC can spend $20 million to brainwash people and make them believe things that aren’t true,” he said. “They spent a record amount, the most in U.S. history, to beat this black man.”
