OpenAI delays release of enhanced voice mode for ChatGPT

OpenAI now needs additional time to refine the feature before its release

What’s the matter

OpenAI has announced a delay in the launch of its enhanced voice mode for the AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT.

This feature was first introduced in May and should be available to paying users within a few weeks.

However, OpenAI now needs additional time to refine the feature before its release, stating on its official Discord server that it “improves the model’s ability to detect and reject certain content.”

OpenAI’s iterative deployment strategy for enhanced speech mode

OpenAI plans to introduce an iterative deployment strategy for the enhanced speech mode.

The alpha version will initially be made available to a select group of ChatGPT Plus users to collect feedback and then expand it based on the lessons learned.

Depending on internal security and reliability checks, the feature may not be available to all ChatGPT Plus customers until fall.

Delay in voice mode has no impact on other feature rollouts

Despite the delay in enhanced voice mode, OpenAI confirmed that it will not impact the launch of new video and screen sharing features.

These features, which were introduced separately during the press conference in the spring, include solving math problems using a picture and explaining various settings menus on a device.

They are designed for use via ChatGPT on smartphones and desktop clients.
