Michael will forever be remembered and missed, especially by those closest to him
Fifteen years ago today, the world lost a unique talent who changed the music industry forever.
That famous being is the late and great Michael Jackson. When Michael died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50, it was as if an era had ended. Michael was a magical musician who captivated audiences since he and his brothers Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Jermaine – the original band members – entered the entertainment world as the Jackson 5 in the 1970s. His cultural relevance reached new heights when he released his debut solo album, Off The Wall, in 1979.
Michael’s 27-year-old son Prince used his Instagram Stories timeline on Tuesday, the 15th anniversary of his father’s death, to pay tribute to his father’s legacy.

The snapshot featured in Prince’s Stories shows Michael smiling while performing with children during the Super Bowl XXVII halftime show in 1993.
“I miss you, dad,” Prince, who lost his father when he was only 12, wrote above the picture. “The world felt better with you in it.”
Prince wasn’t the only member of Michael’s family to pay tribute to the Remember The Time singer on social media.
Michael’s older sister La Toya Jackson, 68, shared a montage clip that included several photos of him performing on stage in an Instagram video. In reality, Michael’s 1993 song “Gone Too Soon” was playing.
“You changed the world in so many ways with such exuberant talent!!!!” she wrote in the caption. “We will always miss you!” She ended her message with: “Gone too soon! I miss you and will always love you.”
Michael’s older brother Tito, 70, also got in on the action, sharing a professional photo of Michael from his Bad era on his Instagram Story timeline – Bad is the name of Michael’s 1987 album. The same MJ song that Latoya added to her Instagram reel is the one Tito put on his Instagram Story.
“#15YearsWithoutMichaelJackson,” he wrote above his brother’s photo.
Michael’s eldest brother Jackie, 73, also paid tribute to Michael today. He uploaded a snapshot of him and Michael from the early days of the Jackson 5 on Instagram.
“Hard to believe it’s been 15 years without you. We miss you every day,” Jackie wrote under his post.
Jackson 5 hits like “ABC,” “I’ll Be There,” and “I Want You Back,” three songs that have been covered countless times over the years, are just a few of the group’s timeless records. After Michael released his record-breaking second solo album, Thriller, in 1982, he went from being a popular R&B singer to the “King of Pop.”
From then on, the whole world was obsessed with Michael. Many wanted to emulate him, whether by copying his fashion looks or trying to learn his incredibly complex choreography for music videos, which often included his iconic moonwalk.
