Taylor Swift’s new ring has Travis Kelce’s jersey number on it. The ring’s designer reveals why

The supermodel gifted the pop star a gold ring with Swift’s “favorite things,” including her cat Benjamin Button, her lucky number 13 and her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s No. 87 jersey.

Cece Fein-Hughes, founder and designer of Cece Jewellery, told TODAY.com exclusively that the ring had already been “pre-designed” for a social media campaign that asked followers to guess the celebrity’s pet. When Hadid saw it, Fein-Hughes said, she wanted to buy it.

“Taylor’s portrait included all of her favorite things – reflecting her immense success and constant travels. We wanted it to symbolize her favorite things that can always be close to her, no matter how far away they are,” says the designer. “Her famous cat Benjamin Button, who graced the cover of Time magazine, was a nod to Travis Kelce with his jersey number, her lucky number 13, and a reference to her latest album, which was featured as a secret engraving that Gigi herself requested.”

Fein-Hughes says she and her team were “overjoyed, as you can imagine!”

With Benjamin as the focal point, she hopes they can design more pieces featuring her two other cats, Olivia and Meredith.

The bespoke pieces typically take up to 16 weeks to produce, says Fein-Hughes, “as we use the ancient art of champlevé enamelling,” and prices start at £3,200, or around $4,000, depending on the design and size of the ring or pendant.

“These are truly one-of-a-kind pieces that clients can use as a canvas to select personal motifs or symbols, which I can then process to create magical miniature works of art that the client can wear forever,” she says.

She and her team have not heard from Swift personally yet, but hope to “see her with it soon.”

“We heard from Gigi, who was so nice throughout the whole process!” said Fein-Hughes. “She said Taylor loved it!”

On the jewelry manufacturer’s Instagram account, Fein-Hughes wrote that it was “an absolute honor” to create “something special” for Swift.

Hadid commented on the post, writing, “It’s perfect ☺️ thank you x.” Hadid has previously shown her support for Swift and Kelce’s love story. After a tabloid reported that the model “didn’t agree with Swift’s behavior in the relationship,” Hadid shut down the rumors.

“I’m a few days late on this one… but didn’t the press try that with Selena last week? Let it go… we are so happy for our girl. Period,” Hadid wrote in an Instagram comment on November 13.

Kelce, for his part, has also given Swift personalized jewelry in the past.

The athlete had previously designed a custom tennis bracelet for Swift. Earlier this year, eagle-eyed fans noticed the singer wearing a diamond “TNT” tennis bracelet while hugging Kelce after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 28.

Kelce and Swift showed their love for each other in a big way over the weekend. The “Lover” singer performed three concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium and was in attendance along with a number of celebrities, including Prince William and children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

During Swift’s June 23 concert, Kelce made his stage debut after watching from the VIP tent.

The athlete – and proud friend – was part of the “I can do it with a broken heart” performance. Kelce wore a tuxedo and top hat and made a cameo appearance carrying Swift and acting alongside the other dancers during the interlude.

Swift subsequently responded to his performance, writing on Instagram: “I’m still laughing my head off/blown away by @killatrav’s Eras tour debut 🥰.”
