Santa Barbara, CA – June 25, 2024 The public is invited to the Unity Singers’ “Summertime Fun!” concert on Friday, June 28th at 7 p.m. at Unity of Santa Barbara.

Annual tradition

The concert, featuring oldies, the Beach Boys, Elvis and others, has long been an annual tradition at Unity. Music Director Noreen Brokke said: “I started this concert as a tribute to my father, who served in World War II.”

Singer of Unity

Ms. Brokke founded the choir about 40 years ago. One of the highlights of their history together was being able to take the group to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2018. The current group of 25 choir members performs twice a month on Sundays at Unity of Santa Barbara, as well as at special events and services, such as Easter. The Unity Singers also perform at other churches and senior living facilities in the city throughout the year, and offer special concerts, such as the one taking place this week.

Summer fun

In addition to Ms. Brokke on piano, the Unity Singers will be accompanied by Jim Mooy on trumpet, Pablo Perez on bass and Rene Martinez on drums at the “Summertime Fun” concert on Friday at 7 p.m. Free refreshments will be available after the concert.
