Elon Musk: Lucasfilm president is ‘deadlier than the Death Star’ because of his leadership of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise

Elon Musk branded Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy as “extremely misogynistic” after “The Acolyte,” which features an all-female coven, was released on Disney+.

“It’s deadlier than the Death Star!” Musk wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in response to a post with pictures of the Empire’s death machines that called Kennedy a “franchise killer.”

Kennedy spoke of the “terrifying” expectations placed on the leadership of major franchises such as “Star Wars.” She said The New York Times in May that the “male-dominated” fan base can make it difficult for women like “The Acolyte” director Leslye Headland to slip into their roles.

“Star Wars” creator criticizes critics who complain that the saga is not diverse enough: “Most people are aliens”

“Working in these huge franchises today, with social media and the pressure of expectations – it’s terrifying. I think Leslye struggles with that a little bit,” Kennedy told the Times. “I think a lot of the women who are involved in Star Wars struggle with that a little bit more. Because the fandom is so male-dominated, sometimes they get attacked in ways that can be quite personal.”

“Makes sense – it’s hard to make something that fans like when you hate your fan base,” said an X-post from The Rabbit Hole in response to Kennedy, to which Musk replied on Saturday: “Kathleen Kennedy is extremely misogynistic.”

A survey by Parrot Analytics of “Star Wars” fans found that many of the titles have a male audience share of “70% or more,” Yahoo reported.

Headland is the “first openly queer person to create a Star Wars object,” as Them described it.

“The Acolyte”, which includes “lesbian space witches,” was criticized for its “woke” propaganda and achieved an average audience rating of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The Acolyte” is about witches in an all-female coven who mysteriously produce female offspring – Mae and Osha – both played by Amandla Stenberg, who identifies as nonbinary.

Following the criticism, Stenberg released a music video with the lyrics “The goal was to make white people cry,” “They twist the woke, distort it, and appropriate it,” and “The desperation of the oppressors is growing.”
