Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance inspires upcoming Hallmark movie | Mid-Missouri News

(CNN) — Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s on-field embrace at the Super Bowl earlier this year looked like the stuff of a romantic comedy, and now it’s serving as inspiration for a new Hallmark Channel project.

The network, along with the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs and studio Skydance Sports and the Kansas City Chiefs, announced that they have partnered to produce a Christmas film titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” with production set to begin next month.

“Holiday Touchdown” follows Alana Higman (Hunter King), who “is sure that her family’s lifelong experience as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them favorites for the team’s ‘Fan of the Year’ contest,” according to a press release. Derrick (Tyler Hynes), the team’s director of fan engagement, is tasked with judging how Alana’s family fares, and “as the two spend time together, it becomes clear that there’s a spark between them.”

According to the press release, the film will honor the Chiefs’ hometown by being shot entirely in Kansas City, including at the team’s home stadium, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Romance took center stage at many of the Chiefs’ games last year. Swift and Kelce became friends in September and the pop megastar was seen at several games to support the Super Bowl champion, who serves as the team’s star tight end.

Their relationship has since become a public spectacle, with the couple frequently seen at each other’s events. Most recently, Kelce made his stage debut at Swift’s concert in London on Sunday, just one day after the couple became “Instagram official.”

Although the plot of Holiday Touchdown isn’t directly based on the ongoing romance between Kelce and Swift, it’s not unreasonable to assume that this Hallmark movie may have been inspired by it – especially given the Chiefs’ involvement.

The announcement does not indicate whether Swift and Kelce are directly involved in the project or have given it their blessing, but CNN has reached out to representatives from both companies for comment.

Christmas can’t seem to come fast enough this year, and “Holiday Touchdown” sounds like a perfect tribute to all the so-called “Chiefties” everywhere.
